FRAMINGHAM, MA --The Framingham History Center will commemorate Flag Day, JUNE 14,by celebrating the return of the 13th Massachusetts Regiment’s flag to its home base at the Edgell Memorial Library.

The FHC invites the public to view this beautiful silk 34 star flag which is probably the oldest American Flag existing in Framingham.

It was given to the Town in 1873 during the building’s dedication as a Civil War memorial and town library. It was displayed in a cramped wall cabinet in the library for years.

It was cleaned, stabilized, and framed for the Town of Framingham's Tercentennial. After displaying the flag during the Tercentennial's Civil War Encampment Weekend, the flag was installed in the Memorial Building.

The flag was returned to the Edgell Library only recently.

The Open House takes place from 3:00-4:45 pm, wrapping up just prior to the ceremonies at 5:00 pm in the Edgell Grove Cemetery in the Soldier’s Lot at the back corner of the cemetery.
