FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Framingham History Center's Edgell Memorial Library, at the corner of Edgell Road and Oak St., has been chosen by the National Trust For Historic Preservation and American Express to compete for a $100,000 grant to restore its magnificent gothic windows. It is competing against 24 other sites in Greater Boston and it needs your votes. The project, Partners in Preservation, is like American Idol for historic preservation -- the top five sites with the most votes online win.

The Edgell Memorial Library was built to honor the many Framingham soldiers who fought in the Civil War. The building is made from stones from a local field, designed by a reknowned Framingham architect, and "guarded" by a compelling statue of a Civil War soldier. It was one of the first public libraries in Massachusetts.

The Framingham History Center (formerly Framingham Historical Society and Museum) will send you a daily reminder if you email them at: vote@framinghamhistory.org and tell them you want to help bring $100,000 to Framingham. When you do, they will put you in a drawing for a free one week stay at Disney World next spring and they'll send you daily fun facts about Framingham's history.

ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANY AGE can VOTE! You don't have to be from Framingham, from Massachusetts, or from the USA to vote. You don't have to be 18 so you can get your children or grandchildren civically engaged with tangible results!
