''Impact Framingham'' group plans to use proceeds of sale of Civic League building to fund worthwhile community projects.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Impact Framingham, a new foundation dedicated to benefitting the town and the people of Framingham, is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2012 year.

Impact Framingham was formed from the funds received from the sale of 214 Concord Street, formerly known as the Framingham Civic League. The League owned the building for nearly 100 years before they sold it to a religious organization in 2010.

The proceeds from the sale of the building have been set aside as a charitable fund that will be distributed as grants within the community.

The organization is now known as Impact Framingham, with the goal of "investing in our community." Betsy Fishman, President of Impact Framingham, commented on the new name of the organization. With "IF" being the acronym for Impact Framingham, "We wanted to pose the question, 'What if?' to the people of Framingham. What if you had the money to impact your community? What would you do with it? How could you Impact Framingham?"

Holding true to the original mission of the Framingham Civic League, the purpose of the grants that will be given out by Impact Framingham will be to support projects which enhance the civic, educational, recreational, cultural and/or benevolent interests of Framingham and its people.

Impact Framingham is hoping that both well established organizations and small grassroots projects will benefit from the available funding. Applicants do not need to be a registered nonprofit organization to apply. "Applicants need only to have an idea that they believe will positively impact Framingham," Betsy Fishman said.

The Board has carefully worked together to ensure that the grant process is as easy and straight forward as possible. Fishman added, "We are looking to fund a wide range of projects, with grants starting at $200 and going up to thousands of dollars."

Grant applications for 2012 funding must be submitted by December 1st, 2011.
