FRAMINGHAM, MA - Comedic theater features at The Amazing Open Comedy Mique Show on May 5. Host Dave Hornfischer, stated that he is "thrilled to add another comedic category featured at Amazing Things monthly comedy show". He noted the comedy show in its first year, has featured all forms of comedy including stand-up comics, magicians, jugglers, folk singers, storytellers, and impersonators.

The May 5th 50 minute comedic theater performance and post performance discussion with actor, playwright and director will headline a show that will also include a number of returning and new miquers doing 5 minute bits of PG13 stand up comedy, storytelling, funny folk music and more.

Aimee Rose Ranger

In the show's feature, Lau Lapides Company & Coast to Coast Productions of Wellesley presents Sherborn's Kelly DuMar's one woman comic play ENVIA! performed byAimee Rose Ranger, (see photo), to demonstrate comedy in theatre. There will also be a post-performance audience discussion about this work with the playwright, director and performer.

Aimee Rose Ranger is a local Boston actress. In ENVIA she portrays an aspiring actress probing her raison d'etre by performing her quirky, spontaneous, poignant and hilarious pseudo-improvisational autobiography in theatrical scenes from her unusual life. The audience interactive performance promises a night of fun for all.

Aimee Rose Ranger has previously created two original solo pieces, and performed last summer in an original collaborative piece in FeverFest. She has been in two productions with the Imaginary Beasts theatre company, and continues one of her favorite jobs, telling ghost stories in graveyards in downtown Boston.

The playwright for Envia, Kelly DuMar has had award-winning plays produced around the U.S. and Canada. Most recently, three scenes from ENVIA! were produced by the New Ideas Festival, Alumnae Theatre, Toronto; her short romantic comedy, No Strings, was performed in Boston and NYC; and her dramatic monologue, Singing Over Your Bones, was part of the Our Voices Festival, Regis College, in February. Kelly's full-length drama, Weekend at the Dreaming Cloud, won the Susan McIntyre Play Festival, Yellow Taxi Productions, Nashua, NH, and was presented as a staged reading at the Central Square Theatre, Cambridge, New Works by Women program, 2009. Kelly produces the annual Our Voices Women's Play Festival for Boston area Women Playwrights. She is a past president of Playwrights' Platform, Boston, and a member of the Dramatists Guild.

Director Lau Lapides heads a Wellesley based acting company specializing in providing the highest level of professional training, coaching, and expertise in the Theatre, Film, and Television Industry for all levels of kids-to adults.

Hornfischer concluded, "Combined with our regular creative and funny miquers, the comedic and professional ingredients provided by ENVIS!'s trio will make for still another fun Wednesday at Amazing." He noted the show's motto, "It's fun to laugh on Wednesday."
