Framingham Public Works Touch-A-Truck & Open House May 20th, 2023
FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Framingham Department of Public Works is holding an open house with a touch-a-truck event on Saturday, May 20th, 2023.
The free public event is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 100 Western Avenue. Attendees can get up close and personal with the DPW vehicles that keep our city running smoothly.
There will be painting and coloring, sandbox activities, games, and demonstrations during the open house. There will also be light refreshments and snacks, as well as giveaways.
“The DPW open house is a fun-filled event for kids of all ages to jump into a dump truck, a frontend loader, an excavator and more,” said Framingham DPW Director Bob Lewis. “Demonstrations by the Highway & Sanitation, Water & Sewer, Engineering, Fleet, Lighting & Signals Departments will be on hand.”
During the May 20th event. little (and big) kids can fill out a form to name a DPW truck.
There also will be an opportunity for attendees to design a poster/billboard sign for a Framingham DPW truck.
If you can’t attend the event and want to submit a design, use an 8.5 by 11-inch paper and email mgonzalezortiz@framinghamma.gov by Monday, May 29.
Framingham DPW employees pick up the trash and recyclables, service sewers, keep traffic flowing, maintain our miles of roadways, plow our streets during the winter, fix potholes in the spring, and plant new trees.
The open house is a kick-off event to National Public Works Week May 21-27, 2023. The national theme is ready and resilient.
“National Public Works week is dedicated to the Public Works professional across the country for their day-to-day dedication to maintain safe travel ways, provide quality utility services, and trash collections for the public,” said Framingham DPW Director Lewis.
