Temple Beth Am Hoop Madness on FPAC-TV
FRAMINGHAM, MA - As basketball fans around the country are focused on both the Men's and Women's NCAA Division I Final Four, Framingham Public Access will be showcasing a little homegrown March Madness.
FPAC-TV is pleased to be partnering with the Temple Beth Am Basketball League this year to present coverage of five boys and girls championship games held recently at Framingham High School.
TBA Basketball involves hundreds of youngsters from the fourth through twelfth grades, and organizers made a commitment this season to ensure coverage of the championship game in each level. TBA volunteers stepped up to cover four of the contests, including both the Boys and Girls B and C Divisions.
FPAC's staff brought in three cameras to cover the final contest of the afternoon, the championship for the Boys A Division, featuring some talented and dedicated high school aged players, several of whom were playing in their last TBA League game.
"We are very happy to work with the dedicated people involved with the TBA League to showcase the efforts of all these kids," said FPAC Executive Director, Bill McColgan. "Not only is this a great community event, it's some terrific basketball!"
The Boys A Game features play-by-play by Nelson Zide, with Joel Kornbliet acting as color commentator. Francesca Cerutti-Harris, Paul Cintolo, Bill McColgan, and Melanie Hardy of FPAC managed the production.
The B & C Division games were covered through the volunteer efforts of Steve Condon, Bill Karger, John Clayman, Dan Bendell, and Jerry Saslove.
Though there was no Girls A Division this season, there was terrific participation all winter long by both boys and girls in the lower grades.
"Every year the program grows," said Richard Steckloff of TBA Basketball. "We allow boys and girls with all abilities, all races, to be part of youth basketball by teaching the fundamentals of the game along with sportsmanship. Everyone plays. No one sits."
