FRAMINGHAM, MA - The following information is about activities and services at the Callahan Senior Center for the month of April, 2011.
NOTICE: Most of the activities, special programs and events listed below require signing up or advance reservation, (unless otherwise noted). Please do so in advance so activities can be scheduled effectively and in the appropriate space.

Friends of Callahan, General Meeting - Monday, April 11th at 1:30 pm The Friends of Callahan will hold their next general meeting on at the Callahan Center. Entertainment will be provided by Ruth Harcovitz and her Rogers & Hammerstein Show. Refreshments will be served. Please come and bring a friend!
New Member Orientation Meeting - Tuesday, April 12th, 9:30–10:00 am

Support Groups at Callahan Senior Center:
- Bereavement Support Group: Mondays, April 4, 11 & 25 at 10:00 am. Center closed for Patriots’ Holiday, Monday, April 18.
- Diabetes Support Group: Tuesday, April 26 at 12:00 pm.
- Caregivers’ Support Group: Wednesday, April 27 at 1:00 pm.
- Grandparent Support Group: Wednesday, April 27 at 7:00 pm. Please call the Center to confirm in the event of a change.
- Low Vision Group: Friday, April 15 at 1:00 pm.
- Parkinson’s Support Group: Tuesday, April 19 at 1:30 pm.
- Stroke Survivors’ Support Group: Monday, April 4 at 1:00 pm.

Blood Pressure Clinic - Wednesdays, April 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 9:30 am—12:30 pm.
"Prosthetics - Then and Now" - Wednesday, April 6th at 11:00 am. Join us in a fascinating presentation by Ingrid Frank C.P., CMF an ABC Board Certified Prosthetist, Board Eligible Orthotist, and BOC Certified Mastectomy Fitter.
"Unraveling the Mysteries of Pelvic Function / Dysfunction" - Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:00 am.
Choose a Hearing Aid (and other assistive hearing devices) - Tuesday, April 12 at 11:00 am.

Beginner’s Quilt Class - Friday, April 1st, at 10:30 am for 6 weeks.

Monthly Dance - Monday, April 4th from 2:30-3:30 pm The Friends of Callahan will hold their monthly dance on in the Blais Room at the Center. Donation of $2.00 required. Refreshments will be served.

Tuesday and It Must Be Movie Time! Movies shown promptly at 1:00 pm in Blais Room Popcorn, drinks and fun— all for only $2.00.

JAMBO AFRICA! - Thursday, April 7th at 10:30 am Join us for an adventure on as we listen to Gail LaRocca and her spectacular visual and narrative exploration of the people, places and wildlife of East Africa.

LUNCH AT THE CALLAHAN - Every last Wednesday of the month. One seating/serving at 11:30 a.m. • no exceptions • no refunds. Reservation must be made by the Friday prior to the luncheon. Cost: $4.00 per person. Menu: April 27 - American Chop Suey/Salad, May 25 - Meatloaf, June 29 - Turkey. Please call the Callahan Center for your reservation at 508-532-5980.

Tuesday, April 12th at 10:30 am Protecting Your Assets and Long Term Care will be the topic of discussion in Attorney Vera Ochea’s presentation on learning what you need to know or ask about to secure your future by protecting independence, protecting savings, maintaining dignity and sustaining quality of life and care.

Robert Kyriakakis, Computer Literacy Center Coordinator, will be leaving us in May. Please stop by the Center, Thursday, April 28th at 9:30 am to say good-bye and wish Robert well. Refreshments will be available.
