Savers Thrift Store to Open in Former CompUSA Location
FRAMINGHAM, MA - Savers Thrift Store chain will be opening a new store in Framingham in the former CompUSA building at 500 Cochituate Road, (Rt. 30 west, after Masspike Exit 13 off-ramp).
Representatives from Savers will be interviewing and hiring to fill (50) positions Monday through Friday, May 10-14, 2010. Available part-time and full-time positions include; customer service, sales, back-room inventory production and other entry-level retail positions. Applicants must apply in person between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Interviews are being held at the Hampton Inn at 319 Speen St. in Natick.
The Framingham Savers thrift store will be the 10th one the Seatle, WA based company has opened in Massachusetts.
Store inventory items are purchased in bulk from local non-profits -- like when you get a call from Big Brother/Big Sister or a Veterans' organization calling and asking; "Do you have any clothes or household items you can donate?", then offers to send a truck to pick up the items from you -- or tells you to leave bags outside on a certain day. These are the types of operations that Savers uses to obtain inventory.
According to company info, Savers stores each stock roughly 100,000 used items on any given day, with 5,000 new (used) items arriving daily. Back-room production workers sort and tag the best items for sale in the thrift stores while other items are either shipped to developing countries or sent to recycling centers.
The stores are setup into departments displaying used clothing, shoes, kitchenware, books, electronics, toys and infant goods, sporting goods, home décor, furniture and accessories.
