Heritage Gallery INDOOR YARD SALE at Callahan Center - Friday, June 12, 2009 10:00 am - 1:30 pm - Start your holiday shopping early and pick up some unique items at reduced prices. We will have tables with items for 25 cents, 50 cents, $1.00, $2.00 and up! Stop by and have a fun shopping trip! All proceeds will go to Heritage Gallery for the Friends of Callahan Building Fund. The Gallery will be closing on Friday, June 26, 2009 for the summer months of July and August and will re-open in September with a new look under the management of Cheryl Cook.
Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:00 am - AGING TO PERFECTION - Four therapists from MWMC Rehabilitation Department will present the seminar and lectures, focusing on a variety of self-help activities and community resources including energy conservation and work simplification, joint protection techniques, balance and preventing falls, and aquatic therapy.
Do you have questions about the RIDE service? On Monday June 8, 2009 from 2:00-3:00 pm, an Informational Session will be held at the Callahan Center regarding the RIDE service for Framingham/Natick.
Thursday, June 11th at 10:45 am “Bingo with the Seniors” and a pizza lunch.
Monday, June 15th, 2009 11:00 am at Callahan Center - “CPR Anytime” - “CPR Anytime” is a self-learning CPR program. Each participant who attends this demonstration workshop will receive a free CPR Anytime kit which consists of a manikin, CPR booklet and DVD that teaches CPR skills in 20-30 minutes. While at the demonstration, you will watch a video shown by Carolyn Tomao, BSN, RN of ABC CPR Services, Inc.
On Tuesday, June 16th at 11:00 am - Do you need a legal question answered? Attorney Susan Shipley, of Framingham’s Shipley & Associates, will be at the Callahan Center for a question and answer session.
Support Groups at Callahan Senior Center - Bereavement Support Group: Mondays, June 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 at 10:00 am. ‘Better Breathers’ Support Group: Wednesday, June 10 at 12:00 noon. Caregivers’ Support Group: No meetings in June, July or August. Meetings will resume in September. Diabetes Support Group: Tuesday, June 23 at 10:00 am. Grandparent Support Group: Wednesday, June 24 at 7:00 pm. Please call the Center to confirm in the event of a change. Low Vision Group: Friday, June 19 at 1:00 pm. Massage Therapy: Thursdays, June 4 & 18 (by appt. only). Parkinson’s Support Group: Tuesday, June 16 at 1:30 pm. Podiatry: Wed., June 10 with Dr. John 12:30 - 4:00 pm . Wed., June 24, with Dr. Lukoff from 1:00 - 3:30 pm (by appt. only). Stroke Survivors’ Support Group: Monday, June 1 at 1:00 pm.
BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC - Wednesdays, June 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 9:30—12:30 pm.
Callahan Center has a TOPS Club, Inc. Chapter! TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a national non-profit organization. The group meets on Wednesdays from 11:45 am—12:45 pm. The cost to join is $26.00 (yearly), which includes a monthly magazine. There will also be a monthly donation of $5.00 to go toward incentives. Individuals need to have a goal of losing at least 10 pounds to participate. Please contact Lorraine Fournier, if you have any questions at 508-532-5980, extension 4102.
Callahan Center Computer Literacy Center Offerings For Seniors - The Callahan Center offers a number of courses including Introduction to the PC, Intermediate PC, Internet and Email, MS Word, and Photoshop. All are 4-day a month courses and the donation is $20.00. Come and learn how to email your long-distance family and friends, check out something on the internet, or learn how to view photos sent to you and take photos and store them on your PC!
If you don’t have a home computer, use one of the Center’s computers when the room is open for public use. Please call the Computer Center as this time changes each month. PPP! Pinochle Players Please! Looking for Pinochle Players to play on Tuesdays at 9:30 am at the Callahan Center.
Duplicate Bridge - Join the Duplicate Bridge group for an afternoon of fun and challenge at the Callahan Center. We meet on Tuesday afternoons from 12:15 to 3:45 pm. Singles are welcome, but partners are not guaranteed. Cost is $3.00 and will be collected by Bill Haberman, group coordinator.
