Know Before You Go: Exploring Ballot Question 3
On Wednesday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m., The Plymouth Church in Framingham will present "Know before You Go: Exploring Ballot Question 3," a panel discussion and Q&A session on the issue of transgender rights in public accommodations. Question 3 on the November 6 ballot is a referendum on the 2016 Massachusetts law prohibiting discrimination against transgender people in public spaces. A "Yes" vote on Question 3 would uphold the non-discrimination provisions, while a "No" vote would repeal the law. Speakers include Tracy McKay, mother of two transgender children, and Taj Smith, Faith Organizing Director of Freedom for All Massachusetts, a bipartisan coalition working to update civil rights laws to include nondiscrimination protections for transgender people. All voters are encouraged to attend. Your presence will help demonstrate to our communities the importance of being informed before voting in November. The Plymouth Church in Framingham is handicapped-accessible, with ample parking behind the building. Weekend of Spirit: Inspiring Courage (at Open Spirit)
Join Open Spirit for our sixth annual Weekend of Spirit! Through shared meals, music, conversation, art projects and experiential workshops, we will delve into our theme: "Inspiring Courage." We will hear from people who inspire us about what inspires them. We will reflect on the different meaning courage has for each of us. We will find courage to laugh, courage to let go, courage to make a difference. Come explore this rich theme in a relaxed and relaxing environment. On Friday evening, Weekend of Spirit begins with a Shabbat supper that is welcoming to people from all spiritual perspectives. On Saturday morning, the program opens with a keynote presentation by Robyn Bernstein from Peaceful Tomorrows, an organization of survivors of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack who work to promote healing and peace. Following the keynote there will be workshop choices, a healing spa, a delicious vegetarian lunch, and great people to meet. Registration is open! Bench Dedication at Nobscot Park and Story Walk
Visit the Pollinator Garden in Nobscot Park as the Framingham Garden Club kicks off its 85th Birthday. At 2:30 p.m., FGC will dedicate the park's memorial granite bench and "We Remember" marker. Both installations were designed and sponsored by the club. FGC also designed and planted the Pollinator Garden with native plants donated by Garden in the Woods, and maintains the garden year round. At 3:00 pm, the children's librarian will begin a story walk from the McAuliffe Branch Library to Nobscot Park. This story walk will feature “The Saved Seed. Pages of this wonderfully illustrated picture book will be placed around the park so visitors can follow the story while enjoying a walk around the park. FGC has donated copies of the book to the city libraries and elementary schools. *** This hidden gem of a park is located on Edgell Road, across the road from 837 Edgell Rd.

Open Mic Night
The wildly popular Open Mic Night Presented by Centre Music House has moved to a new location! Located in downtown Framingham, Sofa Cafe will now be hosting this monthly event. Open Mic Night will be presented on the last Friday of each month from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. All musicians and budding musicians are welcome to participate in this event. Open Mic Night welcomes participants and audience of all ages. A backline is provided for performers which includes a P.A. system, microphones, drum set, amplifiers, and a keyboard. You may bring your own personal instruments (guitars, woodwinds, brass, violins, etc.) and effects.
