IAFSA 140th Anniversary Celebration Exhibit
A celebration of Framingham State alumni and retrospective exhibit of life as a student, from pranks and pageants, to sports and dorm life. The exhibit features vintage fashions, scrapbooks, alumni achievements and more showcased in a gracious 1917 Arts and Crafts house. Come explore the "hidden" maid's room and butler's pantry and learn about how a Framingham State grad invented the chocolate chip cookie and other alumni achievements. All welcome. Free admission. Exhibit open weekdays 9 to 3 p.m., except holidays,until October 31st. Call 508-872-9770 for more information.

Be Nourished! Mindful Eating Workshop
Be Nourished: A Workshop on Clean Eating and Mindful Living–July 9th and August 6th from 6:30-8:30 pmHave you wanted to eat better, but don't know where to start? Would you like to feel nourished and energized by what you eat and do instead of feeling tired or overwhelmed? This month long workshop will support clean, healthy eating and mindful living. We'll meet for two sessions: one at the beginning and one at the end of a month's time. Online support will be provided. IAFSA's 140th Anniversary Celebration Open House
The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni (IAFSA) invites the community to join them for an Open House from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 10th, at Alumni House, to celebratethe organization's 140th Anniversary. Acake cutting is scheduled for 1 p.m. and cake, cookies, lemonade, and iced tea will be served throughout the afternoon. They welcome everyoneto drop by and enjoy a bite and browse their 140th Anniversary Celebration Exhibit. Summer Painting Classes at the Callahan Center
A three week course in Acrylic Painting will be offered in July. Class dates are Friday, July 11, 18 & 25 from 1:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. The cost is $27 for 3 classes, due at time of registration.Minimum of 5 students required for class to run and maximum size limited to 8 students.During these classes a variety of basic art elements will be explained along with exploring value, compostion and color mixing. The instructor for these classes is Kathy Wirtanen. Kathy has a degree in art from Pine Manor College and has continued her art training through private instruction; workshops taught by nationally known artists; and courses at the Worcester Art Museum and the Danforth Museum. She has taught art classes for 13 years, including many classes at the Callahan Center. Students enjoy her style of teaching and find ti to be encouraging, relaxing and informative. Kathy especially enjoys teaching seniors. She also facilitates the specialized Art4Healthing Workshops.Please bring to class a few artist canvas panels or a stretched canvas of any size, preferably 8x10 or larger. Also bring any acrylic paint supplies you have. Some paint, brushes and table easels will be provided for these classes. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to give painting a try. Poetry Reading with Guest Poets: Bernard Horn, Judy Ferrara, and Carla Schwartz
7:00pm--Join us for a wonderful evening of readings, spotlighting three talented poets from Massachusetts. Bernard Horn is the author of Our Daily Words, winner of the Old Seventy Creek Press 2009 Poetry Prize. His poems and his translations of poems by Yehuda Amichai have appeared in The New Yorker, Moment Magazine and others. Judy Ferrara is an artist and poet. She has published two collections of poetry: Gestures of Trees (Mellen Poetry Press, 2000) and A Brush with Words (Autumn Light Press, 2013), poems inspired by paintings. Carla Schwartz is a poet, poetry filmmaker, photographer and lyricist. She is the author of the Turning Point books collection, Mother, One More Thing. A local group of volunteer acupuncturists is offering free community acupuncture for veterans, active military, first responders and their families. The program addresses issues related to post combat stress such as sleep, anxiety, panic or other mood changes. VAC is located at St. Andrew's Church 3 Maple St. Framingham MA.
