Sage i-Night
On Monday, June 1, 2015, the Sage Program of Framingham Public Schools will be hosting iNight, an evening of inquiry, independent investigation, imagination and interest. This annual event showcases the projects of approximately 200 Sage students from the 8 elementary and 3 middle schools in Framingham. Approximately 1000+ visitors including students, families of students, teachers, school administration personnel, School Committee members and many elected officials attend iNight.iNight runs from 6:00-7:30pm at the Walsh Middle School, 301 Brook St., Framingham.

Main Library Book Club: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
7pm--A.J. Fikry, the owner of Island Books, has lost his zest for life after experiencing the loss of his wife and plummeting book sales. He has largely given up on life, until an unexpected occurrence gives him the chance to create a new life. Zevin crafts a sweet, uplifting homage to bookstores, and captures the sweet joy of connecting people and books. Led by Annabel Dodd.

Giuseppe Verdi and the Golden Age of Italian Opera
June 10, 7:00pm – Main Library, Costin Room//Guest Speaker: Dr. Gil Harel, Professor at CUNY – Baruch College///A creation of the early baroque period, opera has entertained audiences for more than four centuries. Contributions to the genre have been made by many, including names such as Monteverdi, Handel, Mozart and more. But perhaps no style in the history of opera has been as prosperous as the romantic one, and no composer more successful than Giuseppe Verde. Indeed, just about every opera house on the planet regularly programs Verdi's operas as a cornerstone of their repertoire. During this session, Professor Gil Harel (CUNY Baruch College) will examine the great tragedy La Traviata, discussing its superlative musical qualities, its compelling characters, and the man who wove it all together. Thursday June 11, 7:00pm – Main Library, Costin Room//A Lecture and Photography Presentation by Brooks Mathewson///For close to a decade, Brooks has been exploring the barrier beaches, rocky shores and salt marshes of coastal southern New England with the goal of studying and capturing inspiring photographs of the diverse bird life found in these habitats. In this talk, Brooks will share his images of the wading birds, shore birds, waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds that utilize these varied habitats. In addition, he discusses the life history of these amazing birds, and shares insights into their ecology. Refreshments.

Most Likely To Succeed Film Screening at Fuller
Fuller Middle School is proud to host one of the special screenings of a powerful new documentary called Most Likely to Succeed, about educational innovations that work. The film is garnering accolades at film festivals around the country, and the producers are allowing Fuller to hold a community showing on June 15, 2015 at 6:30pm. The film shows examples of successful new approaches to student learning -- examples such as High Tech High in San Diego, where the education has been re-imagined to offer an exciting and inspiring hands-on curriculum. The showing will be followed by a panel discussion.
