Buskin & Batteau with Mark Stepakoff opening
After a thirteen-year hiatus to 1) be dads, and 2) take a nap, Buskin & Batteau are back on the road again. Singer-songwriter-soloists David Buskin & Robin Batteau have just put the finishing touches on their long-anticipated new CD, Red Shoes and Golden Hearts to be released by Nouveau Retro Media on May 1. In their new album and in their performances, they continue to offer their audiences, in the words of The Washington Post, "an irresistible amalgam of melodic, sensual pop, folkie grit and killer wit."David Buskin and Robin Batteau evoke a wide range of emotions in their audiences, ranging from light-hearted amusement at "ESPN", or the pun-filled "Death in Venice", to a gentle sense of loss expressed by their beautiful ballad for the late Kate Wolf, "Never Cry Wolf".As professional jingle writers, Buskin & Batteau's voices and tunes have been heard in almost every American household. They've had us listening "to the heartbeat of America", living "in a Burger King Town" and climbing "all aboard Amtrak".The popular duo also brings their unique style and sound to the stage and the audience has come to expect the unexpected whenever David and Robin perform. Drawing inspiration from current events they gave us "Second Homeless", on the heels of the October 1987 stock market crash, a tongue-in-cheek portrayal of the plight of stockbrokers no longer able to afford a second home.Buskin & Batteau combine talent, humor and showmanship with the element of surprise to produce a crowd-pleasing performance.

Mark Brine and Andrew Green
"Hollywood callin'! Extras needed! Be part of the audience on Oct. 3rd, when Breaking Branches Pictures (http://www.breakingbranchespictures.com/) will be filming the conclusion of its Documentary on The Old Time Country Music Hall of Famer Mark Brine, his music, family & life. Director Christian De Rezendes has been working on this documentary for the last year.. And.. on this special night.. it will be a memorable and super 'big time', for sure! Delta blues meets classic rock meets folk-pop is one way to describe Boston-area singer-songwriter Andrew Greene, whose infectious raspy vocals deliver raw passion and innovative phrasing. Combine all that with advanced guitar techniques and soulful harmonica playing and it's evident why this self-described "poet with a guitar" gas gained the admiration of fans and fellow musicians. With release of his CD, Greene's music is bound to resonate throughout Boston and beyond.

Join the fight against blood cancer by participating in the Light The Night Walk. Light The Night is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to millions of people with cancer. Hosted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, teams of friends, families and co-workers raise funds for blood cancer research -- which has led or contributed to major advances in cancer treatment for over 60 years. Walkers gather in cities and towns across the U.S. and Canada and walk a two-mile course in twilight, holding twinkling balloons -- white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost. The Work O' the Weavers with Peg Espinola opening
'If I Had A Hammer,' 'Midnight Special,' 'The Sloop John B,' 'Goodnight, Irene,' 'This Land Is Your Land, 'Tzena Tzena,' 'Wimoweh,' 'House Of The Rising Sun,' 'Michael Row The Boat Ashore.' Songs such as these have become part of our collective consciousness. But few recall that these songs were written or first popularized by The Weavers. The seminal link between an obscure past and contemporary culture, The Weavers introduced a stream of authenticity into the current of American popular music that endures to this day. Much of the modern American folk revival rests on the shoulders of an earlier folk revival in the 1930s. Back then, the ravages of the Great Depression had many wondering whether the capitalist system would survive and compelled many to look for viable alternatives. In the process, the era witnessed a burgeoning union movement, an increase in radical politics, and a simultaneous reawakening of interest in American folk music.During this period, both Pete Seeger and Lee Hays cut their musical teeth. Having grown up in the puritanical northeast as the son of a concert violinist and a musicologist, Pete dropped out of Harvard to work with Alan Lomax cataloguing folk music for the Library of Congress. There he vowed not to dig up old songs from one graveyard just to bury them in another. Lomax introduced him to Woody Guthrie and the two roamed the country together learning, singing and writing songs for unions and other groups. With faithful adherence to their original arrangements, we seek to recall the spirit of The Weavers, providing an echo of their music and some insight into their story, one that resonates ever so strongly in these troubled times when an American's right - and indeed, responsibility - to dissent is once again being challenged. It is therefore a distinct privilege for us, and it is with profound pleasure that we present the timeless music and the timely message of 'Work o' The Weavers'.

John is in a very small circle of men with a guitar and a harmonica. Jimmy Reed, Howlin' Wolf, Bob Dylan. The guitar is an orchestra. He's sending messages. Storytelling. All mystery. Protection. "Sam and Laura" a staged reading of a play by Ron Powers
The New Orleans riverfront in spring 1858. . .a young girl, away from her family farm for the first time in her life. . .a young Mississippi steamboat pilot destined for literary immortality. . .an encounter and brief romance. . .a yellow ribbon. . .separation and heartbreak. . .a lifetime of reunions played out in Dreams. This year, 2010, is the hundredth anniversary of Samuel Clemens's death, and the 175th anniversary of his birth on November 30, 1835. It is also the 125th year since "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" was published in America, in 1885. It is a most fitting year, then, for Americans to get re-acquainted with the greatest writer this country has produced, and to gain new appreciation of his many-layered talents, passions, and especially his fascination with the world of dreams, which, he came to believe, is as genuine as the waking world.Playwright Ron Powers is a Pulitzer Prize winner" and "author of MARK TWAIN, a national bestseller and National Book Critics Circle finalist" ". . .to get reacquainted with Mark Twain, the greatest writer this country has produced. . ."

Melanie
For three years Melanie, who became the voice of an era in one magical instant onstage at Woodstock, has been putting the pieces in order. Pieces of a career, scattered by the winds of experience and assembled again by the force of love into the most personal and brilliant of Melanie's many personal and brilliant albums. Recorded in collaboration with Beau Jarred Schekeryk, Melanie's son and a guitarist/producer with a formidable future of his own, this new album takes root in the history Melanie has already made but rises through the light of modern times toward something universal and enduring. It's all here, the irony and compassion, the wrenching emotion, biting humor, the rushing romanticism of the unexpected insights derived from Melanie's interpretation of the album's one stunning, unforgettable voice which brings each of these new songs to life. This New Album is something greater than a comeback effort -- after all, Melanie never really left
