Framingham Memorial Day Ceremony (at Memorial Building / Nevins Hall)
The public is invited to a Memorial Day ceremony in the Memorial Building / Nevins Hall on Monday, May 29th, 2023 beginning at 11:00am *** Nine Massachusetts Medals of Liberty will be awarded to Gold Star families in recognition of the service and sacrifice of their family member, (awarded to service men and women killed in action or died as a result of wounds received in action). *** The City will also issue its first-ever Massachusetts Medal of Fidelity. This medal recognizes individuals with service-connected injuries related to exposure to harmful substances like Agent Orange and conditions like Gulf War Syndrome, in addition to combat-related mental illness. *** Framingham Veterans' Services Officer Kathleen Lang will oversee the ceremony. *** Framingham Fire Department Honor Guard, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, members of the Veterans Council, Framingham's Mayor and other city officials will participate. *** Guest speaker: Hal Griffin, U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer, Retired. *** Quilts by Deanne Joy will be on display in Nevins Hall. *** After dark, the Memorial Building will be lit up in red, white, and blue colors! *** Framingham Memorial building, 150 Concord Street, Framingham, MA 01702
