Space Hero or Nazi Villain? The Life of Wernher von Braun
7:00pm 'til 9:00pm -- Framingham State University, McCarthy Center Forum. Wernher von Braun, who led both the V-2 ballistic missile and Saturn V moon rocket projects, has often been reduced to stereotypes: either as the great pioneer of space or a Nazi villain. Dr. Micheal Neufeld from the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum shares his research, from which a much more ambiguous and complex figure emerges. *** Dr. Michael J. Neufeld is a Senior Curator in the Space History Department. He served as Chair of the department from 2007 to 2011. He is lead curator of Destination Moon, which includes a traveling exhibit of the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia from 2017-2019, and a new exhibition gallery in the Museum to open about 2021. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, particularly regarding the Nazi rocket program and Wernher von Braun. *** Event is free, but registration is required: [CLICK HERE TO REGISTER] *** FSU McCarthy Center, 100 State St, Framingham, MA *** For more info visit website using link below.
