Jewelry Fashion Showcase to Benefit Framingham Public Library Foundation
Come to this fundraiser for the Framingham Public Library Foundation, where Susan Mancall, owner of Framingham's SKM Jewelers, will demonstrate, using an array of community leaders as models, how to accessorize in a variety of formal and casual ways. The event will be held at the Christa McAuliffe branch library at 746 Water Street, on Sunday, May 1, from 7-9 p.m. Attendees will enjoy delicious desserts, fancy coffees, teas, and lemonade, and be able to purchase all of the jewelry and other accessories featured in the show. SKM Jewelers will donate 20% of all sales made that evening to the Framingham Public Library Foundation.Tickets are $20, and available in advance at the Christa McAuliffe branch library, and at the door the evening of the event.

Talk By Acclaimed Author and Historian David McCullough
He's won the Pulitzer Prize twice, the National Book Award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and his best-selling books have been read by millions of people and made into an acclaimed film and television mini-series.Author and historian David McCullough will be in Framingham on Saturday, May 14 to speak about his book The Wright Brothers, as the keynote event of the Framingham Public Library's Framingham Reads Together program.Doors open for this free event at 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Building (Town Hall) at 150 Concord Street. Mr. McCullough will speak at 10:30 a.m. and will sign books in the Blumer Room on the building's lower level after the talk. The New England Mobile Book Fair will be selling copies of Mr. McCullough's books in the Nevins Hall lobby in the building before and after the talk.

On Sunday, May 15 from 1-3:30 p.m. the public is invited to a dedication celebration with library staff, town and state officials, and members of Christa McAuliffe's family. Framingham Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 929 will raise an American flag that flew over NASA headquarters on the flag pole the VFW donated to the library.Refreshments will be served, and the celebration will also feature live music from the Framingham band The Belfast Cowboys.
