Main Library Book Club: The Flamethrowers by Rachel Kushner
7:00pm--The group will discuss The Flamethrowers by Rachel Kushner. Elizabeth Beloff will lead the discussion. Rachel Kushner creates an unforgettable character in her highly-acclaimed novel. Reno, who is fascinated with motorcycles and speed, arrives in New York in 1977 intent on turning her passions into art. Coincidentally, it is at a time of artist colonization in SoHo, and many social changes. Reno is a fierce observer, and gets a sentimental education of sorts in her trial-by-fire story. "Superb...Scintillatingly alive...A pure explosion of now." -- The New Yorker. Framingham Public Library, 49 Lexington Street, Trustees Room.
