Main Library Book Club: The Cookbook Collector: A Novel by Allegra Goodman
7pm. Main Library, Costin Room.Emily and Jessamine Bach are sisters and complete and absolute opposites. Emily is an astute CEO of a successful digital startup and her boyfriend, Jonathan, is launching his own tech company in Cambridge, but issues of trust, greed and the allure of power are challenging their relationship. Meanwhile, Jessamine is studying philosophy, and working in a rare bookstore owned by Microsoft millionaire George, where she becomes fascinated with the story behind a set of invaluable old cookbooks that George has acquired. "Goodman spins a glimmering tale, spiked with hilarious banter, of ardent individualists, imperiled love, and incandescent interpretations of the mutability and timelessness of the human condition." –Booklist. framingham Public Library, Costin Room, 49 Lexington Street.

Main Library Book Club
Tinkers by Paul Harding7:00pm--Winner of the 2010 Pulitzer in fiction, Harding describes, with spellbinding brilliance, the history and final thoughts of George Washington Crosby, a New England grandfather who is on his deathbed. At the mercy of chaotic forces, George seems to be "channeling" his late father, who was a tinker (mender) and a mystic, and whose epileptic seizures would strike like lightning. Booklist says "…Harding has created a rare and beautiful novel of …acute…metaphysical suspense." Led by Ruth Evans.

Comedic singer songwriter Dan Hart features at Amazing Open comedy Mique show
START 2011 WITH A NITE OF LAUGHS!Comedic Singer Songwriter Dan Hart brings his witty lyrics and amazing guitar to feature at our monthly comedy mique show.Dan Hart has a rather cockeyed view of the world from his background as a psychologist (he has a Ph.D. gathering dust in his closet). He writes songs that make you laugh and think, not necessarily in that order.Hart works with to topics such as the environment, mass media, psychotherapy, and the dreaded holiday season.Dans CDs have received airplay on radio stations across the U.S., and two songs have been featured on National Public Radio's Car Talk program. Doctor Demento called his songs "very timely...quite amusing." His songs have received recognition in national songwriting competitions, including the Kerrville Festival's New Folk series.Hart's CD The Life of Dan features snappy, electric-folk arrangements and an assortment of characters including alienated kindergartners, retro fashion geeks, vegan cowboys; and yes, folkies and singer-songwriters. The CD put yet another of Dan's songs on "Funny Five" of the nationally-syndicated Doctor Demento radio program (to which Hart has been a regular contributor for 25 years) and appears on two of the Doctor's Basement Tapes (vol. 10 & 12).Here is a YouTube links to a song from a show Dan did earlier this year in Connecticut:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o7Kir9lOio ("You're Old")Join Dan and our Amazing miquers doing PG13 stand up, storytelling, improv, funny songs, physical comedy and more in a fun filled Wednesday night that has become one of the hottest if not funniest shows in Framingham.IT IS FUN TO LAUGH ON WEDNESDAY!
