FRAMINGHAM – The Town that Changed America’s Heart
At the museum’s third annual gala fundraiser and dinner to award its 2006 recipients of their “Community Appreciation Award” and “Business Recognition Award”

This year’s “Community Appreciation Award” will be presented to Dr. William Bernard Kannel, Professor at the Boston University School of Medicine and the 2nd Director of the Framingham Heart Study. Dr. Kannel, active in the field of cardiac epidemiology for more than 50 years, is recognized as an early pioneer of the Framingham Heart Study since its inception in 1948.
The “Business Recognition Award” will be presented to the Friends of Framingham Heart Study. Formed in 1991, as a community-based organization to provide supplemental support for the research activities of the Framingham Heart Study and advocacy for the participant population, the “Friends” is a non-profit organization supported solely by donations.

In conjunction with this program, Barnes & Noble Booksellers will be presenting a discussion and book signing on Thursday, November 30th at 7:00 p.m. featuring Dr. Daniel Levy, current Director of The Framingham Heart Study and author of A Change of Heart: Unraveling the Mysteries of Cardiovascular Disease.
