Framingham Democratic Caucus (at Nevins Hall)
The Framingham Democratic Town Committee will hold a caucus on Sunday, starting with registration opening at noon.The purpose of the caucus is to elect Framingham's delegates to the 2012 Democratic State Convention, which is set for June 2 in Springfield.The caucus will meet at Nevins Hall in Framingham Town Hall, 150 Concord St. After registration, the caucus will start at 1 p.m. Arrivals after the call to order will not be allowed to register. Anyone registered as a Democrat in Framingham as of Dec. 31, 2011, is eligible to participate.Delegates will be equally divided between men and women. Framingham will elect 16 men, 16 women and five alternates to represent the town. Only those present at the caucus are eligible to be elected.If all delegate seats are not filled by those present, then people who cannot be present and who have informed the chairman of their willingness to serve as a delegate, can be appointed by those present. All ballots will be written and secret.Those not elected as a delegate or alternate who meet the qualifications can apply to be an add-on delegate in the following categories: youth, minority and disabled.Anyone with questions may contact Thomas Mahoney, the Framingham Democratic Town Committee chairman, at 508-259-6831 or thom.mahoney@gmail.com.A short business meeting will follow the caucus. Jazz Show and Jazz Jam featuring and hosted by Jamie Stewardson *** Jamie directs the Jazz program at the Rivers Music School. He received his MM degree in jazz composition from the New England Conservatory and has recently recorded two CDs of original works with Tony Malaby, George Schuller, Alexei Tsiganov, John Hebert and John Lockwood. Jamie's band is always very high level with the Rivers faculty forming the heart of the group.The first hour of the jam is a concert, featuring the host band - some of the finest musicians from the area and often featuring great players from NYC and beyond. After the first hour, we open it up to the "jammers" who get the opportunity sit in and hone their skills trading licks with some of the finest players in the area.
