Heritage Chorale "Great Opera choruses" Concert
Did you see the Broadway musical The Lion King, where people dressed as animals came down the aisles? In 1891, the Triumphal March from Verdi's Aida was the equivalent of that moment. Grand Operas were the Broadway blockbusters of their day. Each opera included choruses that were both visually and musically spectacular. In November, Heritage Chorale will open its 80th Anniversary Season with a concert of opera choruses, such as "The Toreador Song", "The Anvil Chorus", and "Triumphal March from Aida", with full orchestra and solos by Boston-area soprano Susan Consoli. Opera was meant to be performed in the language of the local audience of its day, as it told a story. The concert will be sung in English to enhance the audience's experience. Advance ticket buyers will be admitted to a pre-concert talk about the stories of the operas on our program and how each chorus fits into that story.Sunday, November 20,4pmKeefe Technical High School750 Winter St, Framingham, 01701. Heritage Chorale is an adult community chorus of 90 singers from over 30 towns in Massachusetts, directed by John Finney. For further information and a link to advance discount tickets, contact the website or call 508-270-3999.
