In 1939 & 1940, John Macomber's Raceland was the site of the Veteran Motor Club of America's antique car meet. A recently discovered film of these meets reveals not only what looks like an agility course for antique cars and their drivers, but also the gorgeous 1/2 mile racetrack on Salem End Road as a backdrop. Heritage Chorale Open Rehearsals for new singers
Toreadors and Elijah! – Sing with Heritage Chorale for its 80th Season Heritage Chorale invites area singers to join us for our new season of concerts. Try singing with us and consider joining! Under the direction of John Finney, Director of the Boston College Concert Choir and former concertmaster of the Handel & Haydn Society, rehearsals will begin with two open rehearsals for prospective members:September 6th and 13th from 7:30 to 10:00pm First Parish UUC Church, 24 Vernon Street in Framingham Following the two open rehearsals, membership will be based on auditions and proper balance of voice parts, with scholarship memberships available to high school and college singers.The Chorale will celebrate its 80th Anniversary Season with three ambitious concerts, "Great Opera Choruses" and Mendelssohn's exciting oratorio telling the story of the prophet "Elijah", at Keefe Tech in Framingham, with full orchestra and professional soloists, as well as its annual Pops Concert, "Musical Gems" from Broadway, movies, pop and popular classics.
 

 The November concert will include blockbuster choruses from the Grand Opera repertoire, such as "the Toreador Song", "The Anvil Chorus", "Va Pensiero (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves)", as well as solos and duets by professional soloists. Most of these pieces will be sung in English to enhance the audience's experience.The Heritage Chorale is comprised of approximately 100 singers from high school to senior citizens from 25 towns throughout Metrowest, Middlesex, Norfolk and Worcester counties.Singers from all voice parts, especially tenors and basses, are invited to attend the open rehearsals, with auditions by appointment to be scheduled afterward.For further information, contact the website www.HeritageChorale.org or call 508-270-3999.
