Can We Talk? An Invitation to Dialogue about Conflict in the Holy Land
We live in an ever more diverse social environment. As American citizens and members of our local and global communities, it is becoming essential to understand the perspectives of our brothers and sisters from other cultures, traditions and faiths. Tensions that divide us produce more polemic and polarization, however, than the kind of dialogue that leads to listening and learning, greater understanding, stronger relationships, and the ability to live peacefully together. No one is immune. Every group, intra-- or interfaith, has challenges in engaging with others who hold different views. We simply don't know how to speak and listen to one another. The conflict in Israel/Palestine is one of the most divisive subjects we face. Yet, there is a persistent yearning to engage in compassionate listening and respectful dialogue about this ongoing, complex and painful conflict. Join us on Sunday, May 3rd, to learn and engage in small group conversation and to gain more insight about the challenge of dialogue about conflicts in the Holy Land by listening to the experiences of those intimately involved in the struggle for justice and reconciliation. For more information or to register online go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/can-we-talk-an-invitation-to-dialogue-about-the-holy-land-tickets-16084623542 or contact Karen Nell Smith At 508–331–3081. Registration fee is $25 and space is limited. Co-sponsored by the Brookfield Institute and Open Spirit.
