Sing Bluegrass With Heritage Chorale
Do you love to sing? Would you like to try some Bluegrass? The Heritage Chorale is beginning rehearsals for a March performance of "The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass", as well as folk songs and spirituals. The Bluegrass Mass is an exciting combination of lush choral harmonies and the lively, sparkling rhythms of Bluegrass.The concert will be held in Wellesley on Saturday, March 28th. For this concert, the Chorale will be joined by Monroe Crossing, a bluegrass band from Minnesota, for whom the Bluegrass Mass was written.Interested singers, high school age and older, should attend one of two open rehearsals on January 6th and 13th, at the First Parish UU Church, 24 Vernon St, Framingham Center at 7:30 pm. The Enigmatic Music of Johann Sebastian Bach

Bach's music was lost and forgotten for nearly a century after his death. Since the 19th century, however, Bach has occupied an important spot in the canon of Western European art music. 8:00pm - Tom Chapin, live at Amazing Things On Saturday, January 17th, 2015! *** In a career that spans five decades, 23 albums and three GRAMMY awards, multi-talented singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Chapin has covered an incredible amount of creative ground. In addition to his work as a recording artist and concert performer, Chapin has acted on Broadway, as well as working extensively in films, television and radio. The New York Times called Chapin ""one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music,"" while Billboard called him ""the best family artist around"" and described him as ""totally captivating."" Parents magazine stated, ""Nobody today is writing and performing better kids' songs than Tom Chapin."" The son of noted jazz drummer and teacher Jim Chapin and the grandson of author/critic Kenneth Burke and portrait painter James Chapin, Tom grew up in a family that encouraged artistic pursuits. He began performing professionally as a teenager in the early 1960s, playing in Greenwich Village folk clubs alongside his siblings Harry and Steve as The Chapin Brothers. Steel Beam Signing for New McAuliffe Branch Library
Sign the beam! On Saturday, January 31,2015 from 9:00am to 5:00pm, one of the main steel beams to be used in the new McAuliffe branch library, presently under construction at 746 Water Street in Nobscot, will be on display in front of Hemenway School, across the street from the building site. Framingham residents are invited to stop by and add their signatures to the beam to commemorate this milestone in the project. Pens will be provided, and library representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the new building and construction progress.
